The first sign of pink eye is obviously having pink eyes. The eyes turn pink because of an inflammation of the thin membrane on the white of the eyes. The symptoms of pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, include the watering of eyes. Eye watering is related to two forms of pink eye; viral conjunctivitis and bacterial conjunctivitis. A distinction between the two can be decided by the color of the tears. The bacterial form of pink eye usually has a greenish color to the tears. Other forms include pink eye due to allergys or from contact to hazardous chemicals or materials.

Another annoying symptom is the itchiness of the eyes. Do your best to not rub them because this can cause your eyes to worsen and it also can help spread pink eye to other people. If you wear contact lenses, take them out.

The viral form of conjuctivitis will generally go away on its own. Do not ignore it though if symptoms worsen, go see a doctor. In severe cases of viral pink eye, antibiotics, eye droppers, and/or steroid cream can be prescribed to reduce inflammation. Pink eye, like any other cold or illness, it generally needs to run its course.

To help yourself and the others around you, wash your hands regularly to prevent the spread of infection. Generally it takes 5-7 days to get rid of pink eye.

If you go to the doctors, the doctor is going to give you eye drops to put in both your eyes. Pink eye usually ends up
infecting both eyes. They are going to also tell you to wipe your eye with a warm face cloth to get rid of any gunk
from inside out. Meaning wiping from the tear duct out. But other then that you can’t really do anything at home
for it besides trying to prevent it from happening again or passing it on to others in your home.
I would also get rid of any make up that touched your eye to prevent infecting your eye again.
And try not to touch your eye so you dont pass it on to others. Wash your hands frequently as well.
